Brainiac Live delivers exactly what it promises: loud, explosive, eye-popping science that keeps kids wide-eyed and adults grinning. From the moment the show kicks off, it’s clear this is not a sit-quietly-and-listen kind of science lesson.
Live experiments take centre stage, including inflating a hot water bottle to the point of an ear-splitting pop, along with plenty of bangs, blasts, smoke and explosions that echo around the theatre. Gasps, laughter and the occasional jump from the audience are all part of the fun – and yes, it really is as loud as advertised.
The standout highlight was a true Brainiac moment: a scientist strapped into a swivel chair, spinning at dizzying speed to see how many rotations could be achieved in 15 seconds (with a little help from rockets) It was chaotic, hilarious and surprisingly educational, perfectly capturing the spirit of the show.
Another crowd-pleaser was the "Airzooker Challenge", firing blasts of air and smoke across the stage and audience. Children around the theatre were mesmerised, reacting with shrieks of delight and uncontrollable laughter.
The only downside is the runtime. At just 60 minutes, the show feels a little short, and too much time is spent on the misheard lyrics segment, where song lyrics are displayed incorrectly on screen while the music plays. While amusing at first, it drags on and feels out of place compared to the high-energy experiments everyone is there to see.
That said, Brainiac Live succeeds where it matters most: making science exciting, accessible and unforgettable. It’s inventive, educational and brilliantly engaging for children, while still entertaining adults. A fast-paced, noisy and joyful celebration of science that leaves the audience buzzing.
Verdict: Short but explosive – A high-energy science spectacular that proves learning can be loud, messy and a whole lot of fun. ️️️️⭐⭐⭐⭐
