Producers ROYO, Runaway Entertainment and Curve have announced that Matt Cardle will star as Charlie Price, alongside Johannes Radebe as Lola, in a new production of KINKY BOOTS The Musical.
The Olivier, Tony® and Grammy® Award-winning musical will play the London Coliseum for 17 weeks from 17 March to 11 July 2026, following a week of previews at Curve, Leicester from 3 March 2026. Tickets are on sale now.
Tosh Wanogho-Maud, currently playing Lola on the European tour, will also join the cast as Alternate Lola.
With a book by Harvey Fierstein and music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper, the production is directed by Nikolai Foster, Curve’s Artistic Director.
Matt Cardle rose to fame after winning The X Factor in 2010 and has since released four studio albums, with a new album, The Great Escape, due for release on 10 April 2026. His theatre credits include & Juliet, Memphis, Strictly Ballroom and Jesus Christ Superstar. He won the WhatsOnStage Award for Best West End Debut for his role in Memphis.
Speaking about the role, Matt said he is “over the moon” to be joining the show, calling the opportunity to play Charlie Price in the West End “a dream come true”.
Tosh Wanogho-Maud began his career as a child performer and has appeared in productions including Titanique, Ain’t Too Proud, Dreamgirls and The Book of Mormon, as well as screen roles in Bridgerton, Jingle Jangle and Roadkill.
Based on the true story and 2005 film, KINKY BOOTS follows Charlie Price, who inherits his family’s struggling shoe factory and finds an unexpected partner in Lola, a bold and charismatic drag performer. Together, they discover the power of friendship, acceptance and believing in yourself.
