"I'm having such a good time, I'm having a cheese ball"
This pantomime review saw our Theatre Flyer Juniors heading to Croydon to discover whether Beauty and the Beast lived up to its magical reputation. Retelling the classic fairytale of Belle, imprisoned by a fearsome Beast, the production asks the timeless question: can she find the Prince within?
And when it comes to the perfect princess, it’s all about the dress… right? This season’s panto princess was played by Ellie Dadd, whose costume earned glowing praise from our Juniors, described simply as “just so beautiful.”
A great pantomime needs plenty of humour, and this production delivered in abundance. Our Juniors giggled throughout, describing the show as delightfully silly and funny. Adults were treated to plenty of cheeky innuendos too, ensuring laughter echoed around the theatre for all the right — and very different — reasons.
Standout performances came from Charlie Guest and Jamie Steen as Louis and Polly La Plonk. A comedy duo not to be missed, they had the entire audience in stitches, with our Juniors eagerly debating which of Steen’s outrageous outfits was their favourite. A table… is all we’ll say.
Special praise also goes to Samuel John Taylor as the Beast, whose powerful vocals and impressive transformation captivated the audience and earned the admiration of every little princess in attendance.
Overall, for a joyful family afternoon filled with laughter, magic and a much-loved fairytale, Beauty and the Beast at Croydon is a perfect festive treat. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The pantomime runs until Sunday 4 January 2026.
