The Magic of Christmas at Brick Lane Music Hall is a truly heart-warming evening brimming with festive cheer.
This isn’t just a show—it’s a complete experience and a memorable night out. What you’re served depends on the performance you attend: whether you prefer a full festive meal or a charming afternoon tea, there’s an option to suit every taste.
We enjoyed a delicious three-course Christmas dinner, and I can’t praise the team enough for how thoughtfully they handled dietary requirements. Scroll through to see some of the beautifully prepared vegan dishes. The staff were exceptionally professional and made sure everything I was served was completely safe.
The venue itself is stunning. Set in a beautiful church, the space radiates community spirit, enhanced by twinkling decorations and festive touches throughout. I was especially captivated by a costume on display in the bar that once belonged to Danny La Rue.
After the meal, the audience—well-fed, merry and buzzing with anticipation—was treated to an evening of entertainment that blended Christmas magic with the charm of a Royal Variety performance, East End style. Hosted by Vincent Hayes, his cheeky humour tied the whole evening together, keeping spirits high from start to finish. A particular Snowman moment and a hilariously chaotic saucepan-and-spoon routine had us all in stitches.
The cast’s talent was nothing short of extraordinary. Discovering that Victoria Yellop had once performed as a violinist for our late Queen made her breathtaking rendition of When You Wish Upon a Star even more moving—I’ll admit, it brought tears to my eyes.
The night’s vocalists—Andrew Robley, William Byrne, Lucy Reed, Samantha McNeil, Jake Lawrence and Charlotte Fage—delivered everything from traditional carols to chart-toppers and even a dash of country. With toe-tapping rhythms, swaying arms and lively audience participation (actively encouraged!), the energy was infectious. Some performances were truly West End calibre.
It’s impossible to leave without feeling totally immersed in the Christmas spirit. The entire evening radiated warmth, joy and genuine connection. It didn’t feel like a traditional night at the theatre—more like celebrating the season with family.
