Featuring a score by Grammy Award–winning singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles and a book by Jessie Nelson, the musical centres on Jenna Hunterson, a gifted pie maker working as a waitress in a small-town diner while trapped in an unhappy marriage. When a local baking competition presents a potential way out, Jenna begins to rediscover her confidence and sense of self. Encouraged by her fellow waitresses and an unexpected romantic connection, she finds the courage to dream of a better future. The musical is based on Adrienne Shelly’s 2007 film of the same name.
Waitress has enjoyed significant international success since its premiere, with acclaimed runs on Broadway, in London’s West End, and on multiple tours worldwide. The show is celebrated for its heartfelt storytelling, humour, and Bareilles’ emotionally driven score, which includes the popular song She Used to Be Mine.
Multi–WhatsOnStage Award winner Carrie Hope Fletcher will star as Jenna for a limited engagement during the tour. She will be joined by Evelyn Hoskins, who reprises her role as Dawn, and Sandra Marvin, returning as Becky. Les Dennis joins the company as Joe, the diner’s owner. Marvin is scheduled to appear in the production until 29 June.
Fletcher’s performances will take place at selected venues across the tour, including Wimbledon, Brighton, Bradford, Woking, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Dublin, Manchester, and Cardiff. The tour is set to travel across the UK and Ireland next year, bringing the much-loved musical to audiences nationwide.
Further casting is to be announced.
